Julie Rivers
Julie River’s music has been in the
Airwaves Top 100 of NAV Magazine and featured on NPR’s Nightcrossings
and similar programs coast to coast. Two of her albums were
simultaneously on the Hastings Books Music and Video “Top
Ten.”
A feature story about Julie appeared in Bryggen
Magazine (Sweden), and she is one of 17 pianists selected
nationwide for the recording, The HeartAid Project (Spring Hill
Records), commemorating and benefiting the families of the victims of
the 9/11 tragedies. Julie was recognized by the Kansas Arts Commission
with one of four state Fellowship Awards for composition and has
received special awards from ASCAP every year from 1998 through
2006.
With the EarthStar Recordings release of One
Starry Night, Julie Rivers captured the hearts of new and old fans
alike with her luxuriantly romantic music of the night. The Kiss of the
Sun, sequel to One Starry Night, celebrated the dazzling romance of the
day. Christmastide, was released in November, 1999, and her 2003
release, As Far As the Heart Can See, was inspired by the beauty of the
land and the tallgrass prairies.
In addition to recording, performing and writing,
Julie has an independent piano studio. Julie’s CDs are available
through her website, at Hastings and at Barnes and Noble. She is
available as pianist for concerts, mini-performances, weddings and
other special events.
A native Texan, pianist/composer Julie Rivers is a
graduate in piano performance from the University of North Texas.
